ShoutOut Atlanta - VOYAGE

Updated: Feb 8, 2021

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sianni Cabello and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sianni, what do you attribute your success to? The most important factor, though it may be overlooked is conducting a heart check every now and again. This keeps your stamina up, this keeps your head focused, and most of all this keeps you sane and moving in the right direction. When asking for sponsorships/partnerships brands can always tell if something is of value or done for the wrong reasons. Having success isn’t always in the hours you put in but how they’re put in. Are you cutting corners, cheating your way through, only looking for what you’ll get out of it? Or do you have heart and soul in everything you do for the good of others/your population? There is a scripture I love and as an entrepreneur I keep close & that’s Proverbs 4:23 – “Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life”. In guarding your hearts be weary of the comparison trap, be diligent to celebrate your God given victories along the way, and most of all remember why you started in the first place. When working with our high school teens, I am always so overwhelmed with love when they tell me that what they learned today was that “they could too, no matter what”. That keep me going. For others you have to find out what keeps you going. It doesn’t always have to come from others acknowledgements. Rather it can come from right inside, when your main goal is to be better than yesterday.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally? After seeing the need for barriers to be broken in the lives of so many youth, I set out to understand how I could impact and positively change how the inequalities of the United States educational system were set up. I then launched SocialSocietyU, Inc. – where I help high school students prepare themselves for their next steps through workshops, College Prep Symposiums (#SSUTheGathering), and by interviewing celebrities to capture their success stories. I devoted myself to working with politicians on Capitol Hill like former democratic Vice President Nominee Senator Tim Kaine, Senator Bill Nelson, and others in state and local government such as Governor Terry McAuliffe and Mayor Donnie Tuck to understand what it would take to truly create an equal educational system for all. It is my goal to create policy and continuing on running my nonprofit so that I may have a hand in legislation and the community, working with and for the very people I serve.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to? Washington DC | NYC Saturday Morning: Rooftop Yoga & Scootering through the National Mall towards #BlackLivesMatter artwork Saturday Afternoon: Robin Hill Wine Vineyard Saturday Evening: Poe Boy Jims Sunday Morning: National Community Church in DC Sunday Afternoon: Mercy Me for Brunch Sunday Evening: National Harbor
